Description
For an urban art bridge wall in Vogel Street Dunedin, Hugo hands his community a bouquet of thanks through the many passers-by while changing the untimely structure into significant art. Hugo says, “This is me, handing a beautiful bouquet of flowers to the city of Dunedin and to the special people I have met there.” As the figures connect and reach out in our current technocratic age, the flowers return the digital back to nature, and the hand holding them turns back to flesh.
Over 2 days, Screaming Rooster prepared the wall with the assistance of Fire and Emergency NZ who drenched it after we scrubbed!
The work took 4 days over the week between Christmas and New year 2020. Hugo’s original quick perspective drawing for approval by Dunedin City Council and New Zealand Transport Authority by Dunedin Street Art remains part of the gallery collection.
